The relationship with yourself is the only one that is guaranteed for a lifetime and yet it can be the trickiest one of all to nurture and maintain. Do you like the person you are right now? "You have to love yourself first"... What does that even mean???

This is the well-meaning advice that so many of my clients here when it comes to working towards happiness and working towards fulfilling relationships in their lives. And yet often that advice can leave you feeling more lost than ever.

 

How do people go from low confidence, poor boundaries, people please, body-image issues, anxiety, and fear of rejection to these happy fulfilled and self-assured people you keep hearing about from your mom or seeing pop up on social media?

 

The truth is, the relationship we have with ourself is just like any other relationship..it goes through seasons and it needs intentional nurturing in order to stay healthy and empowering.

It is possible to become the version of yourself that you've always dreamt of; the one who believes in themselves, the one who goes for it, the one who stands up for themselves, and who is unapologetic about their joy. 

​

The hardest part is often the part you have already overcome - which is admitting you need help! Even when it might feel more vulnerable than ever, I promise reaching out to get help is the most powerful thing you can do to help yourself on your journey.

 

There are some places we need a hand to pull ourselves out of, whether it's anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, fears of rejection, imposter syndrome, or just downright loneliness. Therapy can be the mirror of compassion that allows you to move through the pains of your past to a brighter future.

Therapy is the secret tool that successful people use to get to the next level with themselves; we don't expect high performance athletes to do well without coaches, we don't expect students to learn without teachers, why would this be any different?
